Andy Knott is a Senior Vice President at Wintrust Investments. He focuses on giving independent fiduciary advice to North Shore residents. Andy is known as a teacher. He takes great pride in helping people identify their strengths and weaknesses and motivating them to preserve their assets. As a planner and fiduciary, Andy puts his client’s interests before his own in advising on estate and retirement planning as well as asset management.
As an award-winning investigative reporter for the Chicago Tribune, his work was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize twice (1981 & 1983). Admitted to the Illinois Bar in 1986, he was a prosecutor in Cook County (Chicago) before becoming an M&A expert in Australia and New Zealand where his experiences were the subject of a Harvard Business School case study. He has attended Artificial Intelligence learning events at Google and Stanford.
Andy holds a BS from the University of Tennessee, a J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC) School of Law, formerly John Marshall Law School, and an MBA from Duke University. His service to others includes previously serving on the Board of Visitors at the School of Communications at UT-Knoxville as well as the vestry of the Church of the Holy Comforter in Kenilworth, Illinois. Andy holds FINRA Series 7 and 66 Licenses in addition to Life, Health, and Variable Annuities Insurance Licenses. He regularly teaches Continuing Education classes in Professional Responsibility/Ethics to Illinois insurance agents.
